Gratitude.

Gratitude comes softly -

like light over the hills,

like the hush before the day begins.

It asks only this:

that we notice

what has been given.

The breath we carry,

the road beneath us,

The kindness that finds us unawares.

Even in the ache of things,

there is a thread of gold -

a whisper that says,

“still, you are held.”

And in that noticing,

the heart grows gentle,

and the ordinary

shines with grace.
